HANOVER, Ind. – The Spalding University women's basketball team suffered a tough loss at Hanover College falling, 83-39, Wednesday night in Hanover, Ind.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Golden Eagles fell behind early allowing Hanover to jump out to a 9-0 advantage to start the game. SU kept it within single digits until a three-pointer pushed the Panthers lead to 14-4 at the 5:47 mark. From there the route was on as Hanover pushed their lead to 20 points to end the first quarter. An
Alex Martin three-pointer would cut SU's deficit to 17 points, but that's as close as it would get as Hanover rolled to the 83-39 win.
- SU was led in scoring by
Alex Martin who finished with nine points, while
Jenna Thornhill and
Micaiah Bowden added five points each.
- Thornhill also led SU on the boards pulling down a game-high 11 rebounds.
- SU struggled from the field shooting 24.1% overall and 15.4% from beyond the arc, while Hanover shot 46.2% from the floor and 28.6% from three-point range.
FOR THE FOES
- Claire Cromer paced Hanover with 19 points and five assists, and Maleha Motter added 17 points and seven rebounds.
UP NEXT
- The Golden Eagles travel to Wilmington, Ohio for a pair of games at the Damon's/Hampton Inn Tipoff Tournament at Wilmington College. SU will face Wittenberg University in the tournament opener Friday night at 8:00 pm EST. SU will play at either 1 pm or 3 pm Saturday depending on if they advance to the championship game or play in the consolation.
