Golden Eagles Split Quad Topping IWU, 3-1

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The Spalding Golden Eagles volleyball team soared to victory in the first match of the day topping Iowa Wesleyan, 3-1. SU lost the first set, but took the next three sets, 25-16, 25-21, 21-10 to earn the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ashley Chase led the offensive attack with 16 kills, while Morgan Berning added nine. Berning also added a season-high six aces from the service line.
- Kaitlin Hall facilitated the offense passing our 24 assists.
- Chase and Maddie Rosendaul anchored the back row of the defense tallying 13 digs each, while Claudia Spivey earned four blocks.
 
FOR THE FOES
- Lida Landre led the Tigers in kills offense with 15 kills, while Ariel Smale dished out 24 assists.
- Jenna Murphy led the IWU defensive efforts with 17 digs and Smale added 15 respectively.
 
OAKLAND CITY
NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The Golden Eagles capped off the Saturday quad-match falling in three sets to Oakland City University, 25-23, 25-16, 25-20.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Again, it was Berning and Chase leading Spalding's offense finishing with eight kills and seven kills, while Hall passed out 20 assists.
- Kendra Mahan led SU's defense with 10 digs, and Spivey finished with three blocks.
 
FOR THE FOES
- Kaebra LaGrange paced the Mighty Oaks offense with seven kills and Jenna Knepp  had 17 assists.
-Courtney Pruett led OCU's defense with seven digs.
 
UP NEXT
- The Golden Eagles host Eureka College Wednesday, October 25. First serve is 7 pm at Derek Smith Gymnasium.
