Box Score NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The Spalding University volleyball team fell 3-1 to Indiana University Southeast Thursday evening. The Golden Eagles drop to 10-6 on the season.
The Grenadiers won the first two sets, but not without a challenge from SU who took the first set to a score of 26-24, followed by 25-17 in the second. The Golden Eagles rallied back in the third winning it with a score of 25-20. However, IU Southeast was able to finish the match with another close 25-22 win in the fourth and final set.
Leaders for SU include
Jessica Diehl, who earned 12 kills, one ace, and four blocks.
Victoria Heitzman added to the offense by adding 11 kills, as well as
Alyssa Cosgrove who scored 10 times for the Golden Eagles. Monica Loftus, for IU Southeast, tallied 11 kills and five aces, while Hannah Joly earned 10 kills, two aces, and two blocks.
The volleyball team will be back in action tomorrow night as SU takes on Fontbonne University here at Derek Smith Gymnasium. The SLIAC match is set for 7pm.
