LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding University women's soccer team fell, 1-0, to Fontbonne University Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles drop to 4-4-1 on the season, and an 0-1 record for conference play.
The only goal of the match came early for Fontbonne forward Ellen Weaver who scored in the 7
th minute. The goal was assisted by Meredith Wendt. Possession, in the first half, went back and forth as SU had four shots to FBU's five and both teams earned one corner kick opportunity.
The Golden Eagles were more dominant offensively in the second half tallying eight shots forcing keeper for the Griffins, Taylor Pulvirenti, to make six saves on the half. SU's
Dee Dee Sliter and
Baylee Tabler had three shots on goal apiece.
Demi West and the back line held Fontbonne to only two shots in the second half and allowed no corners. Goalkeeper,
Kelsey Kaiser, had three saves for the match.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action this Wednesday against Hanover College. The game is set for 5:30 pm at Champions Trace.
