LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding University men's soccer team played cross-town foe Bellarmine University to a 1-1 tie Friday evening at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium.
The Knights took a 1-0 lead late in first half, while the Golden Eagles scored late in the second to knot the score.
Bellarmine took a 1-0 lead in the 44
th minute when Callum Southern curled a free kick just inside the left post from 30 yards out to give the Knights a 1-0 lead heading into the half.
With just over a minute to play, a Bellarmine foul in the box gave the Golden Eagles a penalty kick for a chance to tie the game. Senior captain
Joey Lesher, who saw his season end in last year's contest, seized the moment firing a shot past the BU keeper to tie the game.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action Sunday when they host Centre College for their final preseason tune-up. Kickoff is slated for 1:30 pm EST at Champions Trace.
