ELSAH, Ill. - The Spalding University Golden Eagles men's soccer team posted a decisive 3–0 road victory over the Principia College Panthers on Thursday in Elsah, Illinois, securing their second consecutive shutout win to begin St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) play.
Spalding struck early and established momentum in the sixth minute when
Ryder Roberson finished a setup from
Trey McCoomer to make it 1–0. Roberson doubled the Golden Eagles' lead in the 15th minute, striking unassisted for his second goal of the match and fourth of the season to give Spalding a comfortable 2–0 advantage at halftime.
Spalding put the game out of reach early in the second half when
Benit Mulume found the back of the net in the 51st minute, capped off by assists from McCoomer and
John Villatoro to round out the 3–0 final scoreline. Goalkeeper
Arthur Rudolphi delivered a stellar performance between the posts, stopping all four shots on goal he faced over 90 minutes to complete the clean sheet.
With the victory, Spalding improves to 3-6-1 overall and 2-0-0 in SLIAC play, while Principia drops to 2-6-0 overall and 0-2-0 in conference action.
