ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Spalding University women's basketball team tipped their season off with a 56-40 win over Dominican University Friday evening at Grant Gymnasium in St. Louis, Mo.
The Golden Eagles were led in scoring by freshman,
Micaiah Bowden with 10 points, followed by
Mackenzie Myers who added nine.
Maya Hardin facilitated the SU offense dishing out eight assists and dominated the boards totaling 14 rebounds on the night.
SU took an early lead ending the first quarter up 19-2. Bowden added to the lead with back to back three-pointers in the second quarter, giving SU a 24-point lead at halftime. Both teams struggled offensively in the third quarter shooting under twenty percent and Dominican was able to cut their deficit by four. The Stars put up a fight in the fourth quarter outscoring SU 17-13, but the Golden Eagles held their lead ending the game 56-40.
The Golden Eagles will remain in St. Louis to face Rust College on Saturday, November 19
th at 2 pm.
