Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's soccer caps off regular season with 10-0 win over Iowa Wesleyan

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding University women's soccer team capped off the regular season schedule with a 10-0 victory over Iowa Wesleyan University Saturday afternoon at Champions Trace. The Golden Eagles improve to 11-5-1 overall, and 7-2 in SLIAC play.

SU dominated the game getting off 37 total shots and holding Iowa Wesleyan to none. Dee Dee Sliter, who scored in the first minute of the game, ended the day with a hat trick. Two of her goals were assisted by Alyssa Logan, and Baylee Tabler. Sliter has scored 20 goals this season securing her top spot in the conference standings. Kaitlyn Butler and Alyssa Logan each scored their second goals of the season to add to SU's lead. Butler also had the assist to Logan's goal. Before the end of the first half, Courtney Anderson, Baylee Tabler, and Sarah Cornett each tallied a goal. The assists were credited to Shelby Lurie, Anderson, and Kelsie Huffman. The Golden Eagles ended the first half with an 8-0 lead over the Tigers.

In the second half, the Golden Eagles continued to apply pressure to Tigers goalkeeper, Caitlin O'Neill, who ended the day with ten saves. Anderson scored her second goal of the game in the 70th minute, with an assist by Tabler; she has scored four goals this season. Tabler has ten assists on the season and is just one short of taking the lead in the individual conference standings. Cornett found the back of the net for the second time today, as well, to take SU's lead up to 10-0. Ali Bumblis had the assist for Cornett's fourth goal of the season.

The Golden Eagles will now prepare to take on Fontbonne in the SLIAC Tournament semifinals, Wednesday, November 2 in St. Louis, Mo.
