FENTON, Mo. – The Spalding University women's soccer team saw their six game winning streak end falling, 6-1, at Webster University Tuesday night in St. Louis, Mo. The loss drops the Golden Eagles to 10-5-1 on the season and 6-2 in the conference.
SU struggled to get the ball rolling, offensively, getting off just three shots in the first half, while Webster had 14. Goalkeeper,
Kelsey Kaiser saved six of those shots, but the Gorlocks ended the half with a 4-0 lead over the Golden Eagles. Chelsea Noser was the first to score for Webster, followed by Brianna Pagan, who added two goals, and then one by Jillian Zimpfer. SU had a couple of late opportunities in the first half, including a shot by
Kelsie Huffman that hit the crossbar.
The momentum for Webster continued into the second half with a goal from Allison Ferguson in the 52
nd minute. The Golden Eagles were more productive, offensively, getting off seven shots in the second half, forcing goalkeeper, Aly Miller to make four saves on the half.
Kelsie Huffman was finally able to find the back of the net for SU with a goal in the 67
th minute assisted by
Dee Dee Sliter. Huffman has scored six goals this season. Webster's, Kelsey Hausmann scored the final goal to end the game 6-1.
The Golden Eagles will host their last regular season game and celebrate senior day this Saturday, October 29
th against Iowa Wesleyan University. The SLIAC match is set for 1 pm at Champions Trace.
