JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Spalding University women's soccer team topped MacMurray College, 3-0, Saturday afternoon in Jacksonville, Ill. The Golden Eagles improve to 10-4-1 overall and 6-1-0 in SLIAC play.
The Golden Eagles dominated the first half, getting off 14 shots, while MacMurray had none. SU's offense forced MacMurray's goalkeeper, Amanda Gorell to make nine saves in the first half.
Dee Dee Sliter scored her 17
th goal of the season in the 22
nd minute. Her goal was assisted by
Lauren Locke, and SU led 1-0 at the end of the half.
The next goal came in the 66
th minute when
Alnee Tutson scored her first goal of the season on a penalty kick to give SU the 2-0 lead.
Alyssa Logan followed with a goal in the 79
th minute assisted by
Kelsie Huffman, Logan's first goal of the season.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action October 25
th against Webster University. The conference match is set for 6 pm in St. Louis, Mo.
