LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Spalding University women's soccer won their fifth straight SLIAC game topping Greenville College, 4-0, Wednesday afternoon. The Golden Eagles improve to 9-4-1 overall and 5-1-0 in the conference.
SU held the offensive advantage, getting off 12 shots to Greenville's nine. Goalkeeper,
Kelsey Kaiser is credited with four saves on the day, earning her ninth win of the season and her seventh shutout.
The Golden Eagles applied pressure quickly, scoring the first goal in the 6
th minute.
Abbi Quinn slotted the ball across the box finding the feet of
Shelby Lurie who put it away low post to take the lead 1-0, Lurie's first goal of the season.
Dee Dee Sliter was the next to strike for the Golden Eagles, lobbing the ball over the goalkeeper in the 20
th minute. The goal was assisted by defender,
Ali Bumblis, and SU led the 2-0 at the end of the first half.
The second half started with another quick goal from Sliter in the 48
th minute, assisted by
Lauren Locke. Sliter has tallied 16 goals this season and has taken over first place in the SLIAC for most goals scored. She also achieved a milestone in her career at SU by scoring her 60
th and 61
st goal in today's match.
Baylee Tabler used her speed to beat a couple defenders and touched the ball past the keeper to score her third goal of the season; the goal was assisted by
Alyssa Logan.
Next, the Golden Eagles will prepare to take on MacMurray College Saturday, October 22
nd. The SLIAC match is set to take place in Jacksonville, Ill. at 1pm EST.
