Golden Eagles cruise past Gorloks, 76-67

LOUISVILLE, Ky- The Spalding University men's basketball team took down the Webster Gorloks, 76-67, Saturday afternoon. This win marks the Golden Eagles third straight win bringing their overall record to 7-8 with a 5-3 mark in SLIAC play.
 
Nick Trisko had a strong performance putting up 11 points and 12 rebounds to complete the double-double. He also added four assists to complete his night. Rylan Rowe led the Golden Eagles in scoring with 16 points including 4-of-10 from beyond the arc. James Turner cashed in from the three-point line as well going 4-of-6 bringing his total on the night to 15.
 
Spalding's night got started at the free throw line when Nick Trisko hit both of his free throws to even the game at two a piece with just over two minutes played. A 9-0 run was poured in from beyond the arc after James Turner hit two and Brandon Goeing added another.  Webster would go on a small 4-0 run to bring the score to 19-15. The half would end on a high note as Spalding would go on an impressive 17-6 run started by Nick Trisko's layup over the final four minutes. The halftime score would read Spalding 36 and Webster 21.
 
The second half would start positive for Webster as Taylor Walton would hit a layup in the opening minute. James Turner would extinguish two quick Webster scores by knocking down two more three-point field goals with just over a minute in game time apart. Terez Smith would cap off the 9-3 run to bring the score to 59-36 with 10:49 remaining on the clock. Webster would spark a 7-0 run ending in C.J. Moore's layup cutting lead down to 17. A 5-0 run from Webster was shut down by Rylan Rowe's three-pointer forcing the scoreboard to read 71-54. Webster would bounce back with a 7-2 run before once again Rylan Rowe knocked down a three-point field goal. Webster would go on to finish the game on a 6-0 run including a layup at the buzzer by Evan Milligan, but it would be too little too late for the Gorloks.
 
Spalding will be back in action next Thursday, January 21st in Carlinville, Ill. to take on Blackburn at 9 pm EST. The road trip will continue Saturday in Fulton, Mo. when they take on Westminster at 1 pm.
