NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The Spalding volleyball team defeated Iowa Wesleyan University for the second straight day in straight sets, 25-14, 25-23, 25-19, on Saturday at the Southern Indiana Sports Complex.

This win gives the Golden Eagles a three game winning streak, improving their record to 4-8; 4-1 in conference play going into their match with Greenville on Saturday afternoon. With the loss Iowa Wesleyan fell to 0-8 on the season, 0-5 in SLIAC play.

The Golden Eagles used precision passing to give them a kill percentage just over twenty percent. This was also the third straight game they were able to accomplish that feat.

Jessica Deihl and Victoria Heitzman led the way attacking for the Golden Eagles, with nine and 14 kills, respectively. Deihl registered nine kills in 16 attempts to give her a 53 percent kill rate.

With Katelyn Cosgrove out with an injury, freshman Ashley Chase has taken over as the assist leader for the Golden Eagles, and again recorded over 20 for the fourth straight match.
