HANOVER, Ind. – The Spalding University women's soccer team gave their best effort, but came up short falling to Hanover, 5-0, Saturday afternoon in Hanover, Ind.
The Golden Eagles held Hanover scoreless for the 27 minutes, but the Panthers tallied a pair of goals in the final 18 minutes of the half sending SU to the locker room trailing 2-0 at halftime.
The Panthers added two more goals in the first 25 minutes of the second half pushing the margin to 4-0. Spalding's
Madison Ratchford had an opportunity to cut the deficit to three, but her shot attempt was save by Panther goalkeeper Karlee VanDerWeele. Two minutes later Hanover's Katie Koopman found the back of net to make to make the final margin 5-0.
Despite giving up five goals, Spalding goalkeeper
Kelsey Kaiser finished game with 14 saves.
With the loss the Golden Eagles fall to 3-2 on the season.
