CARLINVILLE, Ill. – The Spalding University baseball team lost its final series of the season, losing two of three against Blackburn over the weekend. The Eagles lost 9-0 on Saturday before splitting a doubleheader Sunday with a 6-2 win and a 6-5 loss. The Eagles are now 25-14 this season and finish conference play at 15-7, finishing second in the SLIAC East Division.
In the Saturday game, the Eagles fell behind 4-0 after the first inning and never could find their footing on offense, finishing with only three hits.
Josh Exton started and took the loss, lasting only four and a third and allowing six earned runs.
Ryan Mosby led the SU batters going 2-for-4.
Spalding returned to their winning ways in the first game Sunday with a 6-2 victory.
Ryan Mosby went the distance on the mound allowing two earned and striking out seven.

Blake Patterson drove in two runs apiece for Spalding, who broke open a close game with four runs in the third to take a 5-1 lead. Blackburn never really threatened again.
In the rubber match, the Eagles built a 4-0 lead after four innings, only to see it slip away when Blackburn crossed the plate five time in the seventh.
Kyle Olliges allowed six runs, two earned, in six and a third innings to pick up the loss. Olliges struck out a season high 12 batters in the game.
Up next, the Eagles will head to Greenville, Ill. for the SLIAC Tournament May 7-9. SU will take on Webster in game two Thursday, game times have yet to be announced. The Eagles took both regular season games from the Gorloks 6-4 and 4-3 back on March 28.
