MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Spalding University softball team dropped its third in a row in a 6-5 defeat to Frostburg State on Monday. The loss put the Eagles at 1-3 this season.
Every starter had at least one hit for Spalding, who had 11 hits as a team.
Becca Mouser drove in two runs and
Amanda Gilliland added two hits and an RBI.
Kelci Flener tossed a complete game and recorded 10 strikeouts.
Spalding scored once in the first on an RBI single by Mouser and crossed the plate another three times in the second with another RBI from Mouser and one each from
Caroline Hale and Robin Schoen for a 4-0 lead after two innings. The Bobcats used rallies in the third and fifth innings to take a 5-4 lead. Gilliland tied the game in the top of the seventh with a single that brought in Mouser, but Frostburg's Renay Aubel brought in the winning run with her fourth hit of the game.
Spalding continues their east coast tournament with a game against Guilford College Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. EST.
