MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Spalding University softball team fell to Guilford College, 6-2, Tuesday in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The loss drops the Golden Eagles to 1-4 on the season.

Shelby Kilgore and Becca Mouser led Spalding at the plate, each going 2-for-3 at the plate.

Robyn Schoen (0-2) took the loss, allowing six runs on nine hits with one strikeout.

Guilford did their damage early, scoring one run in the first inning and five in the second to take a 6-0 lead through two.

The Golden Eagles scored a pair of runs in the third inning to cut the deficit to four runs. With one out and the bases loaded, Brooke Conder hit a single to left field scoring Mouser, and an error on the left fielder allowed Kilgore to advance home.

Spalding will conclude their trip Wednesday with a game against Frostburg State and a doubleheader with Kentucky Christian.
