Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Golden Eagles win thriller over Greenville, 1-0

GREENVILLE, Ill. – The Spalding University women's soccer team played in a thriller Thursday night at Francis Field as they were able to improve to 5-3-2 overall and 2-0-1 in conference play with a 1-0 victory against the Greenville Panthers, who fell to 5-4-3 and 2-1-0 in SLIAC play.

In a very intense first half that saw 11 fouls called, both teams failed to score a goal. Greenville did not take a shot while Spalding was able to get off two of their own as the two teams went to halftime with zeros on the scoreboard.

It only took three minutes into the second half before a ball found the back of the net. It was team leader Dee Dee Sliter scoring in her third consecutive game and eighth of the season, to give the Golden Eagles a 1-0 advantage. That would be all of the breathing room the Golden Eagles would need as they secured the 1-0 victory.

Greenville had four shots in the second half, two on goal. Their final shot came in the 78th minute but goalkeeper Kelsey Kaiser saved it to keep the advantage at 1-0.

Spalding will continue play on the road this weekend at Iowa Wesleyan in Mount Pleasant, IA at 4:00 p.m. EDT on Saturday.
