Sliter and Tabler lead Eagles past Berea, 6-0

LOUISVILLE - Dee Sliter and Baylee Tabler scored two goals apiece to lead the Spalding University women's soccer team to a 6-0 win over Berea College Sunday afternoon at Champions Trace.

Tabler put Spalding on the board early, taking a cross from Sliter right in front of the net and firing it past the BC keeper in the 11th minute.  About a half minute later Sliter beat two defenders and slotted a goal to give SU 2-0 advantage. Just over three minutes later Sliter struck again, taking a through ball from Kelsie Parido and scored her second goal of the game to make the score 3-0. Alyssa Logan scored the final goal of the half, finding the upper right corner of the net on beautiful shot from 20 yards out.

Spalding dominated possession in the first half outshooting Berea 13-4 and held a 2-0 corner advantage.

Almost identical to the first half, Tabler found the back of the net 12:04 into the second half for her second goal of the game. Freshman Julie McGee slotted a penalty kick in the 76th minute for the final goal of the game.

Spalding finished the game with a 20-8 shot advantage, including 8-3 shots on-goal. The Golden Eagles held Berea without a corner kick, while earning seven.

Kelsey Kaiser (2-3) was awarded the victory and her first shutout of the season.

The Lady Eagles will be back in action Wednesday, September 24 when they travel to Franklin College. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m., EST.
