Box Score 2 The Spalding University (17-12, 10-4 SLIAC) softball team split two games against MacMurray College (5-14, 2-6 SLIAC), 9-0 and 9-5 Saturday afternoon.

Kelsey McDowell, shortstop for Spalding, doubled. Spalding pitcher, Kelcie Flener, drove in McDowell to give the Golden Eagles a 3-0 first inning lead.
In the top of the second, the Golden Eagles pushed their lead to 5-0 as catcher

Katy Flanagan, right fielder for Spalding. The Golden Eagles scored four more runs including a homerun by Flener in the top of the third as they held their opponents scoreless through five innings taking a 9-0 victory in the first game of the day.
The Golden Eagles were led by the efforts of McDowell and Flener who each went 2 for 3 on the game. While McDowell drove in two batters and scored two runs, Flener drove in three and recorded one run in the shutout victory. Flener also got the win for Spalding as she struck out eight batters through five innings.
Spalding 4- MacMurray 9In the second game of the doubleheader, Tiffany Hazelwonder hit a homerun in the second inning to score MacMurray's first run of the day and give the Highlanders a 1-0 lead over the Golden Eagles.
MacMurray's Breezy Walton doubled scoring teammate Mika Morgan, and on the next play was driven in off a homerun by Jenalee Stine. MacMurray went into the fourth inning with a 5-0 lead as the Golden Eagles remained scoreless through the first three innings.
In the top of the fourth,
Brooke Lamon, first baseman for Spalding, doubled, scoring teammates McDowell and
Paige French to cut the Highlanders lead to 5-2.
MacMurray pushed their lead to 8-2 in the bottom of the fourth as a DeGroot homerun scored teammates Morgan and Roni Grgin.

Peyton French and pitcher Courtney Miller; the Highlander lead was cut to 8-5.
Shelby Woodward of MacMurray scored the last run of the game in the bottom of the sixth; as the Golden Eagles were scoreless in the seventh inning, MacMurray got the 9-5 victory, splitting the doubleheader.
Paige French lead the Golden Eagles in the loss as she went 2 for 3 on the game, recording two runs, including a homerun in the sixth, and three RBIs. McAfee recorded the loss for Spalding as she struck out three and allowed five runs through 2.2 innings.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action Tuesday, April 15 as they take on Centre College in Danville, Kentucky. First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m. EST.
