Guy's Double-Double Propels Lady Eagles To A 73-64 Win At Eureka

Jessica Guy recorded a monster double-double scoring 18 points and grabbing 18 rebounds to propel the Lady Eagles to a 73-64 victory over Eureka.

Kerstin Hayes and Guy carried SU through the first ten minutes of the game, scoring 13 of the team's first 19 points, helping give the Eagles a ten point lead. However, Eureka would counter with an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to just two points at 19-17.

A made lay-up by Eureka's Michaela Balducci at 2:55 mark cut Spalding's lead to just one at 25-24, the lowest margin of the game, but SU would respond with a 10-0 run to end the first half leading 35-24.

Eureka would come out of the locker strong, cutting the Spalding lead back down to just four after a Caty Eeten layup with 15:11 left in the second half, leaving the score at 40-36.

But that's as close as Eureka would get, as Spalding went on a 19-7 run to give them the largest lead of the game, 59-43 with 7:51 remaining.

Spalding would cruise from there maintaining a comfortable lead for the remainder of the game, earning a 73-64 victory.

Spalding dominated in the paint with the help of Jessica guy, scoring 30 versus Eureka's 16 points in the paint.

Spalding also capitalized on Eureka's 18 turnovers, converting them into 12 fastbreak points, while Eureka scored zero points in transition.

The Lady Eagles will be competing again Monday, February 10 against Blackburn College at Derek Smith Gymnasium (DSG) at 5:00 p.m. EST.
