Box Score

Forward Jessica Guy recorded her eleventh double-double, but it wasn't enough as the Lady Eagles fell short, losing to Westminster 56-53 in a hard fought battle.

SU finishes the regular season with a 14-10 overall record, and 14-4 SLIAC record. Despite the loss Spalding will be the top seeded team, and host the 2014 SLIAC Championship tournament.

Spalding got off to a slow start trailing 14-5 with just under thirteen minutes to play in the first half after Westminster's Leigh Ann Lutz hit a three-point basket. The deficit would grow to its largest of the game at 13 after a pair of Westminster free throws extended their lead to 25-12 with 6:42 to go in the half

The Golden Eagles would turn it on late in the half, ending the half on an 11-3 run to go into the locker trailing by only five points at 28-23.

The Lady Eagles scored the first four points out of the break to cut the Blue Jays lead to one after two free throws by Kallie Ash made the score 28-27 just under two minutes into the second half.

Westminster would keep the lead through the majority of the half until Ash connected on a jump shot making the score 47-46 at the 6:49 mark, giving SU their first lead of the game since the score was 2-0 in favor of SU.

The two teams would trade leads three times after that, but a layup and a jumper by Westminster gave the Blue Jays a three-point lead at 52-49.

A layup by Dee Dee Sliter made it a one point game with less than a minute to go, but clutch free throw shooting down the wire would give Westminster the 56-53 victory over SU.

The Lady Eagles will be back in action Friday in the first round of the 2014 SLIAC Championship tournament. SU will take on the fourth seeded Westminster Blue Jays. Game times have yet to be announced.
