Guy Goes For 23 And 19 In Lady Eagles 85-75 Win At Mac

Jessica Guy led the Golden Eagles in a hard fought battle with MacMurray College, recording a double-double with 23 points and 19 rebounds to lead the Lady Eagles to a 85-75 overtime victory.

Spalding started off slow trailing 14-7 just over five minutes into the game. SU would come back to cut the deficit to three points after Brandy Hunter knocked down a three-point basket to make the score 18-15 with 8:20 left in the half.

MacMurray would keep the lead through the half until a free throw by Hunter gave Spalding the one point lead with 31 seconds left in the half. The Lady Eagles would go into the locker room tied at 28-28.

The second-half was neck-and-neck resulting nine lead changes taking place. MacMurray jumped out to an eight point lead, their largest of the game, just six minutes into the second half.

Spalding would counter tying the game 44-44 after Jessica Guy hit a jumper with 10:07 left to play. SU would take their first lead of the second half after Hanna Washle hit a jump-shot to make the score 52-51.

The score would go back and forth from there through the end of regulation with Jessica Guy and Kerstin Hayes scoring all 19 of SU's points in the final 7:57 of regulation. But two free throws by MacMurray's Carley Prince with just one second left would tie the game at 71-71, sending the game into overtime.

Spalding scored the first two points in overtime after Jessica Guy hit a jumper with 4:32 left in OT. SU would never give up the lead after that and start to pull away, ending the game on a 9-0 run to come away with the 85-75 victory.

The Lady Eagles will take on Greenville College Thursday, February 20 at 7:00 p.m. EST in an away game.
