Sliter tallies five goals in route to an 11-0 win at MacMurray

Jacksonville, Ill. – Dee Dee Sliter scored five goals to lead the Spalding women's soccer team to an 11-0 win over MacMurray College.  The win moves the Golden Eagles into third place in the SLIAC standings with a 3-1 (5-6 overall) conference record.

The Golden Eagles jumped on the Highlanders early, Sliter scored her first goal just 1:23 into the game. Sliter struck again in the 25th minute after a throw-in by Demi West to give SU a 2-0 advantage.

Spalding added four more goals over the next 20 minutes. Hannah Freytag scored the first in the 28th minute off a cross by Sliter, and five minutes later Sliter completed the first half hat trick when she found the back of the net on put back following a Katie Ballard shot. Freytag slotted her second goal of the half in the 37th minute, and Ballard fired at shot past the Mac keeper with seven seconds remaining in the half to give Spalding a 6-0 lead heading into halftime.

Spalding dominated possession in the first half outshooting Mac 16-2 and connected on 6 of 8 attempts on goal.

Sliter got the scoring started in the second half, netting her fourth tally in the 51st minute off a ball by Allye Kuerzi. Freshman Baylee Tabler pushed the Golden Eagles lead to eight scoring back-to-back goals in the 57th and 61st minute. The first goal came when Freytag found Tabler in the box with a cross and Tabler headed the ball past the keeper. Tabler did the leg work on the second taking the ball past the defender before firing it into the back of the net. Sliter finished off her big game taking a ball that was bouncing around the box following a McGee corner and smashing it into the back of the net. Freshman Danielle Bridge slotted the final tally of the game, firing a ball just over the keepers reach to make the final score 11-0.

For the game, Spalding held a 31-4 shot advantage, and an 11-0 corner advantage.
