Box Score The Spalding University women's basketball team raced out to a 48-15 halftime lead, and never looked back as they blew past MacMurray College 73-28 Saturday.
Jessica Guy scored Spalding's first six points of the game, to help SU get out to a 6-2 lead with just under four minutes played.
From there Spalding busted the game wide open, going on 36-6 run to take at 42-8 lead with 3:16 left in the first half, and went into halftime leading 48-15.
MacMurray's Emily Elliot knocked down a three-pointer to cut SU's lead to 30, but the Golden Eagles pulled away the rest of the half as they rolled to a 73-28 victory.
SU doubled the Highlanders shooting percentage, shooting 50 percent from the field, while holding Mac to 25 percent on the night. SU also held 49-38 rebounding advantage and forced 21 MacMurray turnovers.
Kerstin Hayes led all scorers with a game-high 12 points, while freshman forward Kelsie Kaiser grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.
Emily Elliot paced the Highlanders with 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field.
The Lady Eagles will be back in action Tuesday, January 14 when they host Greenville College. Tipoff is 6:00 p.m., ET at Derek Smith Gymnasium.
