The Spalding University women's soccer team honored their seniors on Senior Day with a 4-0 drubbing of visiting MacMurray College.

Katie Ballard took a pass from Dee Dee Sliter and slipped it past MacMurray goalkeeper Amanda Gorell to put SU on the board in the 38th minute, sending Spalding into halftime with a 1-0 lead.

The Golden Eagles put the game out of reach, scoring two goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half. Dee Dee Sliter struck first, slotting a goal in the 51st minute after receiving a through ball from Demi West to give SU a 2-0 lead. Three minutes later Rachael Facktor found the back of the net pushing Spalding's lead to 3-0.

SU's final goal came in the 78th minute when senior Bailey Bard took a cross from Facktor and fired it into the back of the net, scoring her first career goal, to make the final score 4-0.

Sliter and Facktor led the Spalding offensive attack. Sliter took a team-high seven shots, with one goal and one assist, while Facktor tallied four shots, one goal and one assist.

Freshman goal keeper Kelsey Kaiser notched her sixth shutout of season, allowing no goals, with three saves.

SU dominated possession, outshooting the Highlanders 27-9 and holding a 6-3 corner advantage.

This will conclude the 2013 season. SU was eliminated from post-season play when Principia College tied Greenville College 1-1 in double-overtime yesterday to edge Spalding by one point for the fourth spot in the SLIAC Championship tournament. The Golden Eagle's finished the season 8-7-1 and 6-3 in the SLIAC.
