Kerstin Hayes dropped a game-high 24 points, but the Spalding University women's basketball team fell at Centre College 72-63 Tuesday night, dropping to 0-2 on the season.
The Lady Eagles fell behind 27-13 when Centre's Olivia Colliver knocked down a three-pointer at the 6:02 mark in the first half. Hayes scored 11 points over the last six minutes of the first half to help SU cut the Colonels lead to six points to head into halftime trailing 36-30.

Maddie Martin hit a jumper to cut Centre's lead to four at 60-54 with 9:38 left to play, but SU could not close the gap as they lost 72-63.

Jessica Guy was one of three Lady Eagles with double-digit scoring. Guy scored 13 points, while corralling a team-high nine rebounds. Freshman center
Maddie Martin scored a career-high 12 points on 4-6 shooting from the field.
Paige Baechle led Centre with 22 points, going 10-19 from the field, while Alanna Guy scored 12 points and Bonnie Rhule chipped in 10 points.
SU shot 38.3% from the field, going 4-13 (30.8%) from beyond the arc. The Golden Eagles out rebounded Centre 39-38, but were forced into 19 turnovers.
Up next, Spalding will travel to Lexington, Kentucky Monday, November 30 to take on in-state foe Transylvania University. Tipoff is set for 3:00 p.m., ET at the Beck Center.
