Women's Soccer Blows Past Iowa Wesleyan 13-0

Elsah, IL – The Spalding University women's soccer team blew past Iowa Wesleyan 13-0 Thursday night, marking their first SLIAC win of the season, to improve to 3-4-1 overall and 1-1-0 in conference.

The Golden Eagles saw five different players score goals on the night, Rachael Facktor and Dee Dee Sliter each finished with four goals apiece, while Tori Smith added a hat trick. Goalkeeper Kelsey Kaiser recorded her third shutout of the season, tallying three saves for the game.

Spalding attacked early, Dee Dee Sliter put the Golden Eagles on the board just two minutes into the first half when she broke away from the Tiger defense off a Kelsey Kaiser punt and fired a shot past the keeper to put SU up 1-0. Sliter completed a first half hat trick and Tori Smith scored her first goal of the game to send Spalding into halftime with a 4-0 advantage.

The Golden Eagles kept their foot on the gas in the second half. Smith scored her second goal of the game 1:04 into the half. Sliter slotted her fourth goal of the game, Demi West scored in the 63rd minute, and Smith completed the hat trick to push the SU lead to 8-0. Rachel Facktor scored four consecutive goals over the next ten minutes and Kayleigh Schuler tallied her first goal of the season to put SU up 13-0.

Spalding outshot Iowa Wesleyan 51-12 and held a 10-1 corner kicks advantage.

The Golden Eagles will be back in action Saturday when they take on host Eureka College at 2:00 p.m., ET.
