Women's Soccer Defeats Principia 3-1 To Win Third Straight

Freshman Dee Dee Sliter slotted two goals to lift the Spalding University women's soccer team to a 3-2 victory over Principia College, marking SU's third straight victory. With the win the Golden Eagles improve to 6-4-1 overall and 3-1 in SLIAC play.

Principia's Hayley MacWilliams put the Panthers on the board first when she got behind the SU defense and fired a shot in the back of the net to send PC to the half with a 1-0 lead.

SU tied the game 1-1 when Katie Ballard served a perfect through ball to Demi West who drilled a shot past the Principia keeper in the 57th minute.

Six minutes later Dee Dee Sliter scored her first goal of the game off a Hannah Freytag assist to give Spalding a 2-1 lead.

Principia responded in the 69th minute when MacWilliams scored her second goal of the game to knot the score at 2-2.

A minute seventeen later Sliter blasted a penalty kick past Principia goalkeeper Murilla King for the game winning goal.

SU goalkeeper Kelsey Kaiser made three game saving saves over the last twenty minutes to secure the victory. Kaiser finished with seven saves on the day.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action Monday, October 14 when they host Blackburn College. Kick-off is set for 2:00 p.m. at Champions Trace.
