WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Spalding University track and field team took the throws squad to Purdue University Saturday afternoon of the Fred Wilt Open earning five top-10 finishes.
Women's thrower
Katie Suiters earned a pair of top-10 finishes on the day. Suiters, a junior from Indianapolis, Ind., took seventh in the shot put with a distance of 11.13 meters, while placing eighth in the weight throw with a best of 11.62 meters.
Sophomore
Cameron Mitchell highlighted the men's side with two top-10 placings. Mitchell finished eighth in the weight throw setting a new personal record with a distance of 12.74 meters. Mitchell also placed ninth in the shot put with a throw of 11.31m.
Jeff Cassidy also earned a top-10 finish, taking 10
th in the weight throw (11.36m), while placing 11
th in shot put (10.94m). Sophomore
Noah Hadfield also made the trip. Hadfield took 13
th in the weight throw (11.05m) and 15
th in shot put (9.17m).
Up next, SU track and field will head to Hillsdale, Michigan to compete in the Hillsdale Wide Track Classic hosted by Hillsdale College.
