Young is in her first season as an assistant at Spalding. Young played at Spalding from 2011 to 2013 after transferring from Thomas More College and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Accounting.
Prior to coming to Spalding, Sam played at Ballard High School under Andy Benner and Lamar Grayson. She was a three year varsity player, won their district in 07’ and were runner ups in 06’ and 08’, was on the all district team in 08’ and was named MVP her senior year. Sam returned to Ballard to be the Head JV Coach and Assistant on Varsity from 2014 to 2016, went to Kentucky Country Day School in 2017 and then Atherton in 2018.
Sam currently coaches’ club volleyball at KIVA under the direction of Ron Khordes, Assumption High Schools nationally ranked head coach. She has been the KIVA 15 Black Head Coach the past two seasons going 138-53 overall and finishing 20th out of 194 teams both seasons. Â
