Darren Yeagle is in his seventh season as the Assistant Coach for the men’s soccer program at Spalding.
Yeagle, who serves as a recruiting coordinator, has played a major role in building a winning tradition at Spalding.
Darren has worked primarily with the SU forwards and midfielders, and on the way to a perfect 9-0-0 SLIAC record in 2016, helped the team in outscoring their opponents 34-8 in conference play. Spalding scored 65 goals in 2014 and finished the season with the second best Scoring Offense in NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer, averaging 3.42 goals per game. The Golden Eagles also tallied 54 goals during the 2013 season, finishing 15th nationally in all of NCAA Division III for Goals Per Game.
Yeagle, a Louisville native, also coaches for Kentucky Fire Juniors and served as a coaching director with Mockingbird Valley Soccer Club (MVSC). Previously, he coached for a season as an Assistant at his alma mater, Trinity High School, where he led them to the KHSAA State Tournament and a Top 5 ranking in Kentucky.
As a player, Yeagle posts an impressive resume, including four caps and one goal with the United States U20 Men’s National Team.
Yeagle played collegiately at Indiana University, where in 2006 he was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year, an NCAA First Team Freshmen All-American, and was a Second Team All-Big Ten selection. During his time in Bloomington, he led the Hoosiers to two Big Ten Championships, a berth in the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight, and two trips to the NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen.
Prior to his time at Indiana, Yeagle was named 2004 Kentucky High School Player of the Year and 2005 Gatorade Kentucky Player of the Year, in addition to earning NSCAA High School All-American honors. He helped his youth club team, Javanon ‘87, to a USYSA National Championship in 2006, where he earned the Golden Boot Award, and also led them to USYSA Region II Championships in 2003 and 2006.
Most recently, Yeagle played professionally with the Louisville Lightning of the Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL), where he led the team in scoring in the 2010-11 season.
Darren has his USSF “C” License and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University.
