Tayler Sheriff

Tayler Sheriff enters his third year as an assistant coach for the Golden Eagles becoming the first full-time assistant coach in school history after spending last year as a graduate assistant. Sheriff will serve as the Golden Eagles pitching coach and recruiting coordinator.
In his first year at Spalding in 2019, Sheriff guided the pitching staff to a 4.07 era and a top 25 finish in k/9. Sheriff coached three pitchers; Jack Parisi, Dillon Sievert, and Zach Jones to all-conference performances. Jones also earned all-region honors. Sievert went on to sign a professional contract with the River City Rascals of the Independent Frontier League following his senior season. Sheriff also led a recruiting effort that brought in 15 newcomers for the 2019-2020 campaign.

Sheriff comes from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he spent one year as a volunteer assistant for the Crimson Hawks. During his time at IUP, he coached future 27th round draft pick of the Phillies, Tyler Adams. Sheriff got his coaching career starting at his scholastic alma mater, United, after a shoulder injury ended his playing career at Clarion University of Pennsylvania.

He then jumped into the collegiate summer league ranks and has served as head coach in the AAABA (All-American Amateur Baseball Association) in Johnstown, PA with Paul Carpenter's Capital Advisors.  During his time as head coach in Johnstown, he saw his team reach two consecutive AAABA National Tournament Championship games (2016, 2017), which was the first time in 73 years that a Johnstown franchise has accomplished this feat.

Sheriff also made a one year stop at Penn State-New Kensington where he served as the top assistant.

Sheriff graduated from IUP with a bachelors in Sport Administration, a minor in Business along with a certificate in coaching.
