Entering his fourth season in college baseball, Heath Wright will serve on Downs' staff..
Wright, an Owensboro, Kentucky native, was a 2005 graduate of Owensboro Catholic High School where he was an All-Region performer in both baseball and football.  As a senior captain he helped lead his squad to a 34-7 record and All-A State Championship.  Wright also set the state record for single season receiving yards his senior year and was named All-State on the gridiron, while leading his team to a state runner-up in 2004.
Wright accepted a scholarship out of high school to attend Kentucky Wesleyan College (NCAA Division II) where he was a three year starter in the infield for the Panther Baseball team. Upon graduation, Wright began his coaching career at Central Hardin High School in 2010-11, as Wide Receivers Coach for the football team and serving as the Freshman Head Coach and Varsity Assistant for the Bruin Baseball team, who went on to win the 2011 KHSAA Baseball State Championship. Wright stayed in the High School ranks for the 2011-2012 season, returning to his alma mater as an assistant Varsity and JV baseball coach at Owensboro Catholic High School.
Wright broke into college baseball for the 2013 and 2014 seasons, serving as Graduate Assistant coach at St. Catharine College (NAIA), a sister school of Spalding University, where he worked primarily with the hitters and infielders.  With Wright’s guidance, the 2013 Patriots offense led the competitive Mid-South Conference in Team Batting Average (.314) with the 2014 defense pacing the MSC in Team Fielding Percentage (.963).
Wright has spent the past two summers earning stripes in summer college baseball, serving as the Assistant Coach for the Fulton Railroaders of the Ohio Valley League in 2013, leading them to OVL Playoff Championship. 2014 saw Wright was the Assistant Coach for the Waccamaw Waves of the Beach Collegiate Baseball league in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Wright graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Physical Education from Kentucky Wesleyan College. In 2014, he completed his Master’s Degree in Health Promotion and Leadership from Saint Catherine College.
