Women's Lacrosse Advances to the HCLC Championship

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Spalding University women's lacrosse team secured a gritty 7–3 victory over Hanover College yesterday, April 28, at Legacy Fields in Louisville. A dominant defensive performance in the second half propelled the Golden Eagles to the win, as they held the Panthers scoreless for the final 30 minutes of play.

Game Breakdown
The contest began as a defensive battle, with the teams locked in a 1–1 tie after the first quarter. Taylor Young opened the scoring for Spalding on an assist from Mahalia Dominguez, while Hanover's Kaitlyn Madden answered back shortly after.

The second quarter saw a back-and-forth exchange. Hanover briefly took the lead twice, but Spalding refused to let them pull away. Dominguez and Young both found the back of the net to ensure the game went into halftime tied at 3–3.

Whatever adjustments Spalding made at the break worked perfectly. The Golden Eagles shut down Hanover's offense entirely in the second half. Young completed her hat trick early in the third quarter, and Dominguez added a man-up goal to give Spalding a 5–3 lead heading into the final frame. In the fourth, Nicole Hollowell and Grace Mitchell added insurance goals to seal the 7–3 win.
