Wilkins Shines as Spalding Splits Weekend Series with Greenville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Spalding University and Greenville University split their doubleheader at Legacy Fields this past weekend, with each team earning a decisive victory.

GAME ONE: SPALDING 9, GREENVILLE 1 (5 INNINGS)
In the opening game, Spalding secured a nine to one win in five innings, backed by a strong performance from Riley Wilkins. Wilkins earned the win in the circle, pitching a complete five innings and allowing just one run while also contributing at the plate. The Golden Eagles established an early lead with first-inning RBI singles from Braeanna Billups and Bianca Ward. They later extended their advantage in the fourth inning through an RBI from Wilkins and a heads-up play by Riley Beckmann, who stole home. Kaleigh Franklin-Brooks eventually ended the game in the fifth with a two-RBI single that brought the run-rule into effect.

GAME TWO: SPALDING 3, GREENVILLE 14
The second game was a different story as Greenville responded with a fourteen to three victory fueled by twenty-two hits. Anna Cox led the Panthers offensive surge with six RBIs and three hits, while Rylee Bloomer recorded four hits and scored four runs. Although Spalding managed to pick up RBIs from Franklin-Brooks and Billups, they were unable to contain the Greenville lineup. The Panthers sealed the win with a five-run sixth inning, and pitcher Kayla Kocher went the distance to earn her ninth win of the season.

NEXT FOR SPALDING
Following the split, Spalding moves to an eleven and fourteen overall record as they prepare for their upcoming games against Rose-Hulman.
