GREENVILLE, Ill. - The Spalding University baseball team put together a dominant weekend at the plate, sweeping a three-game series against Greenville University behind explosive offense and key pitching performances. The Golden Eagles scored 33 total runs across the three games, using timely hitting and late-inning rallies to secure the series sweep.
GAME ONE
Spalding opened the weekend with a 16–9 win in game one, powered by a huge day from
Caleb Coffey. Coffey went 3-for-6 with three home runs and five RBIs, leading an offense that produced 14 hits.
Rocco Cimarosti also had a strong performance, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored, while
Cayden Tucker finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs.
Jesse Walter added two hits and an RBI, and
Joshua Wilmot scored twice as the Golden Eagles' lineup produced throughout the order. On the mound,
Caden Krystofiak started the game before
Noah Godwin came in to earn the win in relief as Spalding pulled away late with a four-run eighth and nine-run ninth inning.
GAME TWO
Spalding continued its momentum in game two, earning a 7–1 victory behind a strong pitching performance. The Golden Eagles tallied 11 hits, with
AJ Lopez leading the way with three hits and two runs scored.
Caleb Coffey stayed hot at the plate, finishing 2-for-4 with three RBIs, while
Cameron Combs contributed with a solo home run and two runs scored.
Ty Lopez also drove in a run for Spalding. On the mound,
Cameron Rayborn delivered an impressive outing, pitching eight innings while allowing just one run and striking out six, helping Spalding control the game from start to finish.
GAME THREE
The Golden Eagles capped the weekend with another offensive showing in game three, defeating Greenville 10–5 to complete the sweep. Spalding's offense came alive late in the game, breaking open a tight contest with a five-run ninth inning.
Ross Lucas delivered a clutch two-run double to give Spalding separation, while
Rocco Cimarosti added an RBI single during the rally.
AJ Lopez also contributed with an RBI hit, helping seal the victory. The pitching staff held Greenville in check down the stretch to secure the series-clinching win.
Across the weekend, Spalding's lineup consistently delivered big hits, highlighted by Coffey's three-homer performance in the opener and key late-game production in the finale.
