Women's Lacrosse Powers Past Alma, 9–2

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Spalding Golden Eagles earned a strong home victory on March 5, defeating Alma 9–2 at Legacy Fields in Louisville. The win moved Spalding to 2–1 on the season, while Alma fell to 2–2.

GAME RECAP
Spalding came out firing in the first quarter, scoring four straight goals to take early control of the game. Landrie Smith opened the scoring off an assist from Mahalia Dominguez, followed shortly by a goal from Harleigh Beumer, also assisted by Dominguez. Grace Mitchell added another goal off a pass from Taylor Young before Nicole Hollowell capped the run with an unassisted score to give the Golden Eagles a 4–0 lead. Alma managed to get on the board late in the quarter, but Spalding still held a 4–1 advantage after the first period.

The Golden Eagles continued to extend their lead in the second quarter. Dominguez found the back of the net with an unassisted goal, and Taylor Young added another off a pass from Madison Cornett to push the lead to 6–1 at halftime. Spalding stayed in control throughout the third quarter as Hollowell scored again off a Dominguez assist before Mitchell added her second goal of the game to make it 8–1 heading into the final frame.

Alma scored once early in the fourth quarter, but Spalding quickly responded when Hollowell completed her hat trick on a player-up opportunity, assisted by Mitchell, to seal the 9–2 victory. Hollowell led the Golden Eagles with three goals, while Mitchell added two goals and an assist. Dominguez also played a key role offensively with a goal and two assists as Spalding controlled the pace of the game from start to finish.
