LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Spalding Golden Eagles baseball completed a strong weekend series against the Illinois Wesleyan Titans baseball, winning all three games at Derby City Field. Spalding relied on timely hitting and solid pitching performances from several key players throughout the series.
Spalding opened the series with a 7–2 victory on Saturday. The Golden Eagles scored early and maintained control behind strong pitching. Spalding's staff combined to limit Illinois Wesleyan to just two runs on seven hits while striking out ten batters. Offensively, the Golden Eagles capitalized on scoring opportunities and put together eight hits in the win, using a five-run sixth inning to break the game open and secure the victory.
The second game of the doubleheader saw Spalding's offense erupt in a 15–2 run-rule victory. The Golden Eagles totaled 14 hits and broke the game open with a massive 10-run third inning, overwhelming the Titans' pitching staff. Several Spalding hitters contributed during the rally, as the lineup consistently reached base and drove in runs throughout the inning. The offensive surge helped Spalding cruise to the seven-inning win while continuing to apply pressure at the plate.
Spalding completed the sweep on Sunday with a 9–8 extra-inning victory. The Golden Eagles jumped out to an early 3–0 lead in the first inning and continued to produce offensively, finishing the game with 16 hits. Illinois Wesleyan rallied to force extra innings, but Spalding delivered the game-winning run in the 10th inning.
