LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Spalding University's women's basketball team picked up a statement road win this past weekend, dominating Greenville University 80–47 to open the calendar year with a strong performance in SLIAC play.
TURNING POINT
From the opening tip, the Golden Eagles set the tone with balanced scoring and efficient execution, racing out to an early lead and never relinquishing control of the game. Spalding shot a hot 51.8 % from the field and 37.5 % from three-point range, while fueling the offense with points in the paint, strong ball movement and relentless pressure on the defensive end.
A trio of Spalding standouts spearheaded the effort.
Timarri Miller led all scorers with 19 points, showcasing her inside-outside versatility, while
Ma'Kaylia Lute added 17 points, including several key triples that kept the pace up throughout the contest.
Zaneiya Batiste also impressed with a double-double, finishing with 12 points and 11 rebounds to anchor the glass and limit second-chance opportunities for Greenville.
Anastasia Dowlen chipped in 10 points, complementing the balanced scoring attack that saw contributions up and down the roster.
Defensively, Spalding smothered Greenville for much of the afternoon, holding the Panthers to just 32.1 % shooting overall and generating turnovers that led to easy transition points. The Golden Eagles outscored their hosts in every quarter, combining disciplined rotations with physical play that kept Greenville from establishing any offensive rhythm.
With the win, Spalding improved to 6–7 overall and 2–2 in conference play, a critical boost as the team looks to build consistency heading deeper into the SLIAC schedule.
