EUREKA, Ill. – Spalding softball traveled to St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent Blackburn on Friday. SU swept the Beavers.
The Golden Eagles moved to 8-14 (4-0 SLIAC), while the Beavers fell to 12-11 (4-2 SLIAC).
GAME ONE - SPALDING 5, BLACKBURN 2
The Golden Eagles jumped ahead early with a two-run homer from
Grayce Marcum in the first inning. They added three more runs in the third, sparked by an RBI single from
Morgan Gambrell. Blackburn responded with single runs in the fourth and fifth innings, but Spalding's defense and pitcher
Sydney Schott held firm to secure the victory. Schott earned the win, improving her record to 4-12.
GAME TWO - SPALDING 9, BLACKBURN 0
The Golden Eagles set the tone early, scoring in the first four innings and racking up 15 hits. A five-run fourth inning blew the game wide open, as Spalding capitalized on consistent offensive pressure.
Kennadi Schleicher-Drasler pitched a complete-game shutout, allowing just five hits while striking out three. The win improved Spalding's record to 8-14 on the season.
