LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Spalding softball grabbed two wins at Legacy Fields on Friday against Asbury. The Golden Eagles won 8-7 and 5-3.
SU improved to 2-6 on the season, while the Eagles fell to 3-3.
GAME ONE - SPALDING 8, ASBURY 7
The game started with Asbury taking an early lead, scoring three runs in the first inning. Spalding responded in the second inning with two runs, narrowing the gap. The pivotal moment came in the third inning when Spalding's offense exploded for four runs, giving them a lead they would maintain for the remainder of the game.
Asbury attempted a comeback, adding three runs in the fifth inning and another in the sixth, but Spalding's defense held firm in the final inning to secure the win.
GAME TWO - SPALDING 5, ASBURY 3
Asbury got off another strong start, plating three runs in the first inning to take an early lead. However, Spalding quickly responded with two runs in the second to close the gap. The game took a decisive turn in the fourth inning when Spalding's offense came alive, pushing three runs across the plate to seize the lead. A solid defensive effort in the later innings held Asbury in check, allowing Spalding to claim the 5-3 win.
