Marietta/BSN SPORTS Invitational

MARIETTA, Oh. – Spalding baseball traveled to Ohio to play in the Marietta/BSN SPORTS Invitational. Spalding grabbed three wins on the weekend.

Spalding improved to 9-6 on the season after the weekend.

GAME ONE - SPALDING 13, ITHACA 3
Spalding initiated the scoring in the first inning when Ethan Tuttle walked, advanced on a wild pitch and a stolen base, and was driven in by Matthew McDowell's single. The third inning saw the Golden Eagles extend their lead to 5-0, capitalizing on five hits and an Ithaca error.  The offensive momentum continued as Spalding added two runs in the fourth inning, one in the fifth, and three in the sixth, culminating in an 11-0 advantage. In the seventh, Evan Fisher's two-run double increased the lead to 13-0. Ithaca managed to break through in the bottom of the seventh. They closed the lead to 13-3, but it wasn't enough.

Key performers for Spalding included Matthew McDowell, who went 3-for-4 with four RBIs, and Evan Fisher, who contributed a 2-for-4 performance with two RBIs. Pitcher Caden Krystofiak delivered a strong outing, limiting Ithaca's opportunities through six innings.

GAME TWO - SPALDING 8, WITTENBERG 10
Wittenberg took control early, building a 5-1 lead by the fifth inning. Spalding battled back with a three-run seventh to cut the deficit to 5-4, but Wittenberg responded with five more runs across the eighth and ninth innings. The Golden Eagles mounted a four-run rally in the final frame but couldn't complete the comeback.

GAME THREE - SPALDING 14, MARIETTA 2
Marietta initiated the scoring in the first inning, but Spalding responded decisively in the second. With bases loaded, Ty Lopez's triple cleared the bases, contributing to a four-run inning. Spalding's offense remained potent, adding five runs in the fifth inning. Key contributions included a two-RBI double from Aj Lopez and an RBI single by Jesse Walter, extending the lead to 9-2. Pitcher Jake Mueller (4-0) earned the win for Spalding, delivering six strong innings, allowing one run on six hits, with one walk and four strikeouts.

GAME FOUR - SPALDING 17, MARIETTA 1
The Golden Eagles jumped out to a commanding 7-0 lead in the first inning thanks to a combination of timely hitting and aggressive baserunning. Their offense continued to roll, scoring in every inning except the third, with multiple players contributing to the offensive explosion. Spalding added five runs in the fourth inning and three more in the fifth to extend their lead. Marietta struggled to generate sustained offense, managing just one run in the fourth inning. Spalding's pitching staff, led by a strong performance from the mound, limited Marietta to just five hits and one run, while the defense was flawless, committing no errors.
