Columbus, Ms. – The Spalding women's basketball team played SLIAC opponent MUW on Saturday. SU won 69-45.

The Golden Eagles moved to 18-7 (16-2 SLIAC), while the Owls fell to 12-13 (9-9 SLIAC).

TURNING POINT
In the first half, both teams struggled offensively, finding it difficult to create clean shooting opportunities. Spalding's defense was solid, forcing several turnovers and limiting MUW's scoring, but the offense was held in check. The team finished the half with a slim 23-22 deficit. Both teams shot poorly, but Spalding's defense allowed them to stay in the game despite their offensive struggles.

The second half saw a noticeable shift as Spalding's offense began to find rhythm, improving their shooting percentage. With a more aggressive approach, they could build an early lead, going on a 9-0 run and tightening up their defense even further. The Golden Eagles limited MUW to just 24 points in the second half, dominating both ends of the floor. Spalding maintained control for the rest of the game, sealing the win with a 35-24 advantage in the second half.

• Anthony Dillard led the way for SU with 18 points and five rebounds.
• Xavier Burton tallied 10 points and two rebounds.
• Devonte McCampbell snagged eight points and nine rebounds.

NEXT FOR SPALDING
Spalding will travel to Greenville University on Friday, February 28th. They will play the second-lowest remaining seed in the SLIAC Semifinals. Tip-off is set for 6:30 pm.
