LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Spalding women's basketball team delivered a strong performance on December 29, securing a 66–42 victory over Worcester State in non-conference action.
TURNING POINT
After trading early buckets in the first quarter, Spalding began to assert itself with physical play in the paint and smart offensive execution. The Eagles outpaced Worcester State 16–13 in the opening period and never looked back, outscoring the Lancers in each of the final three quarters — 13–7 in the second, 18–9 in the third, and 19–9 in the fourth — to pull away for the 24-point win.
Senior
Zaneiya Batiste led the way in a dominant all-around effort, finishing with 24 points and 20 rebounds, anchoring Spalding's presence inside and on the glass. Batiste's strength on the offensive boards and inside scoring provided consistent production throughout the game. Teammate
Gabby Douglass added 18 points, connecting on key shots and knocking down 9 of 11 free throws, helping sustain the Eagles' offensive rhythm. Guard

Defensively, Spalding held Worcester State to just 42 points on 25.9% shooting, disrupting the Lancers' offense and forcing turnovers that turned into transition opportunities. The Eagles also controlled the paint, outscoring Worcester State in second-chance points and showing physical toughness on the boards.
