LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Spalding women's basketball earned a gritty 73–68 win over Anderson on Saturday, leaning on a huge third-quarter surge and some standout individual performances to get the job done at Derek Smith Gymnasium.
TURNING POINT
After a tight first half, the Eagles exploded for 25 points in the third quarter to create the separation they needed.
Zaneiya Batiste was dominant in the paint, putting together one of the most impressive performances of the season with 15 points and an incredible 32 rebounds, controlling the glass from start to finish.
Gabby Douglass ran the offense with confidence, nearly recording a triple-double with 14 points, nine boards, and eight assists while adding three steals.
A'Nieja Russell delivered timely scoring with 13 points and six assists, and the bench played a major role by contributing 25 points, giving Spalding valuable depth in a game where every possession mattered. Despite committing more turnovers than they would prefer, the Eagles compensated by outworking Anderson on the boards and knocking down 10 three-pointers to keep momentum on their side. Spalding's ability to dominate the glass, move the ball, and respond with energy after halftime proved to be the difference as they continued their strong start to the season.
