TURNING POINT
From the opening whistle, the Golden Eagles controlled every aspect of the match, outshooting Blackburn 39-0 and maintaining possession throughout. It took less than four minutes for Spalding to strike first, as
Emma Livingston found the back of the net off a setup from
Emma Scheumann. Livingston continued her strong play in the first half, scoring again in the 25th minute from a
Clara Creg assist, before
Taylor Touche added a third goal just two minutes later with help from Emme Kirn. The first half dominance was capped by Livingston completing her hat trick at the 30-minute mark, assisted by
Taylor Zebarth, giving Spalding a comfortable 4-0 lead heading into halftime.
The Eagles didn't slow down after the break. Just two minutes into the second half, Creg scored off an assist from
Elle Trentman, who then set up another goal three minutes later for
Karolyn Lighthall. The scoring wrapped up in the 84th minute when
Melaney Frick converted on a pass from Lighthall to make it 7-0. Spalding's defense was equally dominant, holding Blackburn without a single shot attempt. Goalkeeper
Sophie Young-Neawedde recorded the shutout without needing to make a save, as the defensive line completely neutralized Blackburn's attack.
It was a complete team performance from start to finish, with seven different Eagles registering either a goal or an assist. Livingston led the way with three goals on 11 shots, while Creg, Lighthall, and Frick each added a goal and an assist. The team also earned eight corner kicks while conceding none, demonstrating their control of the game's tempo and territory. The victory keeps Spalding undefeated in conference play at 3-0 and improves their overall record to 9-3-1.
