Women's Basketball outfought the Scots

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Spalding women's basketball played SLIAC opponent Lyon College on Thursday. SU came out with the win, 78-58.

The Golden Eagles moved to 5-11 (4-5 SLIAC), while the Scots fell to 7-9 (4-5 SLIAC).

TURNING POINT
Spalding University's women's basketball team came out strong in the first half against Lyon College, establishing an early lead with efficient scoring and tenacious defense. The Eagles built momentum in the opening quarter with precise ball movement and high-percentage shots, finishing the first quarter ahead. Spalding's defensive pressure forced Lyon into several turnovers in the second quarter, leading to fast-break points and extended possessions. The Eagles capitalized on their opportunities, going into halftime with a comfortable advantage and setting the tone for the rest of the game.

Spalding continued to build on their first-half momentum in the second half, displaying strong offensive execution and defensive intensity. The third quarter saw the Eagles maintaining their lead with consistent scoring from both inside the paint and beyond the arc. Spalding's defense remained aggressive, disrupting Lyon's offensive rhythm and forcing key turnovers. In the fourth quarter, the Eagles put the game out of reach with a commanding 24-point performance, showcasing their depth and confidently closing the game.
