ROCKFORD, Ill. – Spalding women's soccer earned their first win for the 2024 season in a 1-0 shutout against Rockford on Saturday evening.
This launched the Golden Eagles to a 1-0 start to begin their season, while Rockford fell to 0-1.
Turning Point
The start of the games was a defensive battle between the teams with no goals being allowed in the first half. Spalding kept the pressure on the Regents' goalkeeper. The Golden Eagles had a total of 11 shots to end the half.
Opening the half, just seven minutes in, the Golden Eagles had their first shot hit the back of the net.
Emma Livingston scored the goal for SU giving them the first lead of the game.
Madison Dziedzic joined the box score with an assist on the goal. Spalding's attack kept up the pressure, while the defense held firm for the remainder of the game. SU took home their first victory of the season, 1-0.
