RICHMOND, Ind. - Spalding men's soccer traveled to Earlham College on Wednesday. SU grabbed the win, 5-2.
The Golden Eagles moved to 2-2-1 on the season, while the Quakers fell to 1-3-1.
TURNING POINT
SU opened the first half with a bang. Just 52 seconds into the match,
Mustafa Almohammedawi received a pass from
Samuel Mulume and put it in the back of the net. Immediately after, Almohammedawi grabbed a brace in just two minutes, making it 2-0. The Golden Eagles kept the pressure on the Quakers for the next 18 minutes. With 23 minutes remaining in the half,
Ethan Eckert joined the scoring column. Eckert dribbled down the sideline and juked three defenders, putting it near side post and into the net. Spalding went into the half with a commanding lead, 3-0.
The Golden Eagles came out of halftime with huge momentum on their side. Three minutes into the half, Mulume netted a shot off of an assist by Almohammedawi. SU extended their lead, 4-0. With 33 minutes left, the Quakers scored back-to-back goals, making it 4-2. The clock ticked, and with two minutes remaining, Almohammedawi hit the dagger. The junior tallied a hat-trick and helped the Golden Eagles take home the win, 5-2.
